8th: Work on gothic tale revision, complete epitaph and tombstone for poor Edgar.
7th: Complete the first page of the paragraph practice packet -- you are looking for the main idea of each paragraph. Remember,when you are writing, that paragraphs should have only one main idea.
6th: No homework! You guys are awesome. Today's powerpoint presentations showed a wonderful effort. Tomorrow we are starting a new writing project.

8th: Read and analyze "Annabel Lee" by Edgar Allen Poe. Continue revising your Gothic story.
7th: Review the film handout and begin to reflect on the writing question for the film "The Day the Earth Stood Still". Study the vocabulary for the exam.
6th: The powerpoint presentations on Korean culture are due tomorrow. Please make sure you have created a 5 question quiz for the class to test their recall of your information. Study vocabulary for the exam on Monday.

7th: In complete sentences, respond to the assigned questions on the story "Dark They Were...". Be sure to highlight the story as you review the details.
6th: Powerpoint project is now due on Tuesday, Oct 27th. Literary Days are over!! You all did a wonderful job with your poetry presentations. I was very proud of all of you!

8th: Read "The Fall of the House of Usher" . Use online summaries to familiarize yourself with the setting, characters and plot of this story BEFORE you begin to read. Write notes in the margins and highlight the story as you read. Vocabulary 5/6 quiz is tomorrow.
7th: Quote Collage is due Thurs. Oct. 22. The vocabulary 5/6 quiz is tomorrow
6th: The Korean Culture powerpoint partner project has been postponed until after Literary Days. Read Ch. 1-4 in "When my Name was Keoko" tonight. Study 5/6 in the vocabulary workbook for the quiz tomorrow.

7th: Study 5/6 vocabulary, test is Thursday! Quote Collage is due Thurs, Oct 22.
6th: The final copy of your original narrative is due Wed. October 21st. This date has been moved forward from the original projected date. I will not be collecting a second "draft". Make all final revisions tonight, please. Do not simply reprint your first draft!! Improve your work! attach your peer-editing worksheets and the rubric for grading to your papers.

8th grade: Gothic Tale is due Friday. Please make sure to include dialogue, and at least 3 elements of the gothic style in your story.
7th grade: Complete the research on the bullying website. Answer discussion questions 12 & 13 for the short story "Monsters on Maple Street". Research Venus, write 6 sentences -- follow the directions on the handout.
6th grade: Finish highlighting the map of the school. Complete the research on bullying, according to the guidelines of the handout (on your assigned question) . Powerpoint projects are due on Thursday, October 22nd. The final copy of your original narrative is due on Monday, October 26th. There should be major revisions on your final copy. You must attach it to your peer evaluation sheets (blue papers) and to your first copy. Part of your grade is based on the amount of improvement that takes place on the final copy.

7th grade: Great job on your drafts today! The final draft of your essay is due on Friday. Attach your pre-writing chart, peer editor's feedback page, and rough draft to your final copy. Staple together BEFORE class.
6th grade: Complete all the instructions from the "What's in a Name" handout. Your original narrative is due Monday, October 12. You must include dialogue in your narrative.

7th grade: Essay on "An Individual's Responsibility to Society" is due tomorrow. Staple your pre-writing organizer and the purple rubric sheet. Follow the rubric guidelines carefully to earn the highest grade!
6th grade: Find your literary day poem and print a copy. Visit the Korea website and learn about the unique culture of Korea, complete the writing task by tomorrow.

October 2: HW for the weekend

8th grade: Finish reading "The Cask of Amontillado". Begin working on the Coat of Arms Project, it is due on Friday, Oct 9th.
7th grade: Complete the collage of one of the 6 Pillars of Character. Your collage should have your keyword and lots of great images to represent the trait you chose from the list.
6th grade: Make sure you have everything you need in order to complete your scrapbook. Hope you enjoyed the film today and I'm sorry I couldn't watch the end with you! I was sick today. Your team's scrapbook is due on Tuesday, October 6th.

BOOK FAIR DATES

Parents, students can purchase books at our PTO Book Fair starting Friday, October 9th. Grades 7 & 8 will visit on Friday, and grade 6 will visit on October 13. This is a wonderful way to support our PTO and to promote reading at home. Thank you for your support!
