-Vocabulary Lesson 10. Research colonialism (75 words) and explain how it relates to the Pearl.

7th: Complete the webquest, using the link to travel with Kit through the London streets. Read the biography of Charles Dickens and be prepared for a quiz on his life, tomorrow during class. Your Fictional Narrative is due on Wednesday! Please attach your rubric! It's required!

- Student inspired homework: Write 75 words rationalizing your answer to this prompt:
"If a young child pulls the trigger of a gun and ends someone’s life should it be blamed for murder? Does ignorance excuse blame? Who can be blamed for a person’s ignorance?"
- Motifs – choose one motif (from the list on packet pages 58-59) and find one example of that motif from each chapter we’ve read so far.

7th: Study for test tomorrow on Latin American Authors.

6th: Return all Reading Workshop books on Monday! Read Ch. 8-11 and the Character Values worksheet.

8th: holdover from last night's HW due to Learnia and field trip.
7th: fill in the top of the DIGNITY chart in your Circuit packet. You need 2 examples for each character. Find the page #'s too.
6th: You will be tested on the selected "Reading Workshop" book that you and your partner have read together. Your personal narrative will be collected. Staple all drafts, storyboards, and rubric to the assignment BEFORE coming to class. This assignment is worth 100 pts! Get started on Keoko projects too.

Vocab Test for Lessons 9 & 10 is Wednesday, Nov 24 (no school on Thursday for Thanksgiving!)
8th: Complete Imagery Packet pp. 265-268. Read Lottery story and write a few paragraphs about the questions that follow.
7th: Finish reading the CIrcuit by Thursday and write about one of the reader's response questions from the cover sheet of the packet. Also, reflect in writing on the cyberbullying assembly or info. sheets.
6th: HW for Friday, completed narrative with all drafts and editing sheets plus study for TEST on your Reader's Workshop book.

-- Complete four entries on the worksheet with 1) a quote from When My Name Was Keoko (chapters 4-7 only) and 2) your reaction to the quote in at least four sentences.

7th Grade: Finish reading "The CIrcuit" by Wednesday. Answer another reading response question from page one of the Circuit packet.

8th Grade:
-- Write 50 words about your groups' image and how it relates to power and Steinbeck's message

7th: Read pp. 57 - 83 in the Circuit. Answer #4 on the cover sheet of your packet "What is the hardest aspect of Francisco's life in your opinion?" 75 words.

6th Grade:
- Read chapters 1-3 in When My Name Was Keoko (pay close attention to who is narrating, because the chapters go back and forth between brother and sister)
- Work on your personal narrative (it will be due on Friday!)
- Be sure you have finished your Reading Workshop Book (you will be tested on it on Friday!)

8th: Complete the "Anticipation Guide" and the research on parables.
7th: Write the first page of the fictional narrative that you mapped out in your teams during class on Tuesday. Double space, typed.
6th: Complete the "Terms of Address" worksheet and continue working on your personal narratives. Study these terms for the quiz tomorrow.

All grades: Update your online book records. You must have the book that was last recorded in your online book record, in class. This update is worth 10 pts.

8th: Coat of Arms essay and shield is due at the end of class on Tuesday. Our exam is scheduled for Wednesday.
7th: Write 3 sentences as 3 separate "seed" ideas for a creative writing story. You will be writing a fictional narrative. You will choose one tomorrow in class and begin.
6th: Edit or create dialogue in your narrative.

1 - All Writer's Notebooks will be assessed on Monday! You should have at least 10 pages filled in your notebook.
2- Vocabulary Test 7/8 Monday. Unit 9 is not due until next Tuesday, Nov 16.
3- Grades 6 & 7: study the vocabulary for lessons 1-7 , Exam Wed., 11/10.

8th: Write your name on the sash of your Coat of Arms, plan your images, print photos, and begin to decorate. Come to class prepared to finish it on Monday and Tuesday. Exam: 11/10
7th: Complete the "Latin American Author Profile Page" by Monday.

6th:
--Edit your personal narratives by adding sensory details and combining sentences according to your partner's and your own suggestions.
--Bring in a typed copy of your personal narrative with your additions and edits HIGHLIGHTED.
--You should have AT LEAST 2 pages typed.
--Study vocabulary lessons 1-7 and literary elements for the quarterly assessment on Wednesday!
