8th: Write about your position on a controversial "science" or technology topic from anytime in history. In other words, does science always advance mankind in a moral way? Examples: stem cell research, cloning, birth control, in vitro fertilization, surrogacy, etc. (100 words) 7th: Fill in your onion diagram with examples of all the ways that different things in our culture influence you and choose one and just write 100 words about how it influences you. Also, start to study your Glossary of Terms from the 3 Cups of Tea packet.
6th: Read the first three pages of the packet "Text Features". Complete the multiple choice questions on the last page. In this packet you will learn about how textbooks help you LEARN better by making things on the page stand out. You will learn about "Text Features" and how they focus your attention on the important things in a textbook.

6th grade: Imagine you are going to tell the reader the story of your life. Your first paragraph will introduce the setting to the reader. So you need to make the reader feel as though they can visualize your environment, time period, weather, etc. ....whatever you think is important about your little world. Write this in the style of a story that begins for example: "My small town is lined with trees and little shops." You could also focus on the inside of your bedroom, but just focus on SOMEWHERE! !! :) (100 words)
