what does Poe think of mankind, women, the human mind? good and evil? authority?
Choose a few and write about it.
7th: Write the poem "I am From" using the template. Type the finished poem. Give it an ORIGINAL TITLE.

6th: Continue working on SSR Book Talk, due Monday. Make predictions in your "Reading Workshop" packet. Continue reading in your Reading Workshop book.

7th grade: Finish your "Immigrant Experience" essay (double spaced typed). Reflect on what you've learned from this person and how it will make you think about things differently!

8th Grade
--Read up to page 88 in your Poe anthology ("The Murders in the Rue Morgue" up to the paragraph the end of the newspaper article, which is the paragraph that ends "...There is not, however, the shadow of a clew apparent.") and continue to take notes in your packet!
--Write 75 words about forensic science and your knowledge of the techniques that are used to solve crimes.

End of Quarter Assessments: November 10

Grade 8 Exam: Edgar Allen Poe Writing/Reading Exam: You will read a story, answer questions on it, and write an essay in class (I will give you the topic on Tues.)

Grades 6 & 7 Exam : Students will read a story, then complete a set of 20 multiple choice questions which include using literary terms, finding details, and making inferences while actively reading. The words in Lessons 1-7 (vocabulary workbooks) will be on the exam. Use the flashcards to begin drilling the words! WORDS ARE POWER!

8th Grade:
--Part of "The Murders in the Rue Morgue:" read page 73 (starting at the bottom with "The narrative which follows will appear to the reader....") to page 80 (up until the paragraph that starts "EXTRAORDINARY MURDERS") in your Poe anthology.
--Answer study guide questions 1-5

7th: Finish reading "Name Nombres". Complete all the questions on p. 74 of the same packet. Fill in all the lines!

6th Grade:
-- Finish writing dialogue opening for your personal narrative
--Write another opening with either onomatopoeia or action
--Read from your reading workshop book and complete the the Home-Link for "questioning the text" by writing at least five questions that you think of while you were reading.

8th: Final copy of Gothic Tale is due on Monday. Print the final draft in double spaced TNR 12 font. All parts of this assignment must be stapled together. The final narrative should also be send via email to my school address, in the proper format. If you are missing part of the required elements for the publication, your story will NOT be published in our class anthology, so please follow the guidelines carefully. Quiz on "Fall of the House of Usher" is Monday. SSR TEST : November 1
7th: Final Copy of your essay on "your responsibility to society" is due tomorrow. Staple all pre-writing and first copies to your final. All work must be shown. Also, fill in the worksheet for the drama scene between Rob and Brad.
6th: Complete your seeds worksheet. Begin reading ahead in your new "partner" reading workshop book.
