Vocabulary Lesson 17 due, all grades, tomorrow!

8th: Read the student article "Little White Boxes" and write a paragraph about it.
7th: Complete 10 more notecards. 40 notecards are due at the end of the period tomorrow!
6th: Brainstorm two ideas for a persuasive writing topic. Fill in the pros/cons for your ideas on the T-chart.

7th: Read Ch. 11 & 12 in the Outsiders, complete the conflict analysis sheet. Remember, 40 notecards are due at the end of the period on Tuesday, February 1.
6th: No HW!

HW: have fun in the snow!~~

8th: Write a paragraph about Mr. Frank's decisions, follow directions to analyze the problem and how he finds a solution. (see handout)
7th: 20 notecards will be due at the end of the period on Friday. Work on writing some of them at home, using the sample notecard (and your outline from holiday vacation) in your Wax Museum research packet.
6th: finish reading "Uncle Septimus' Beard" in your online textbook! Enjoy!

Grade 8: prepare 3 questions for the Holocaust speaker tomorrow.
Grade 7: complete assigned pages in research packet. Paraphrase the passage about Thomas Edison and type it up!
Grade 6: Answer #8 in the Damon and Phythias packet. Complete the Writer's Notebook Quarter Self Assessment (yellow sheet).

grade 8: Holocaust background vocabulary, Holocaust reading comprehension
grade 7: Eleanor Roosevelt plus reading comprehension
grade 6: Greek Myths, 12 Gods and Goddesses

HW for Tuesday night:
8th: Propaganda Poster description and analysis is due tomorrow, with your completed posters!
7th: Read Eleanor Roosevelt, and complete p. 20
6th: Pandora questions 1-3.

8th: Write the blended poem, using the handout to get started. Type your poem and mount it with images. Due Tuesday.
7th: Read Ch. 7 & 8 in Outsiders by Tuesday, read "Eleanor Roosevelt", and fill in p. 20 by Wednesday.
6th: Read the peer fictional narrative. Write on the draft, commenting with nice things, as well as suggestions for improvement. You need to fill out the "Student Reviewer's Notes" sheet, answer all questions completely. Fill in the attached checklist too. Your job is to help the student to improve their work and to let them know what you liked about it, too!

SSR Book Test is postponed for grades 6 & 7. The new date is Tuesday, January 18. You MUST have your book in class on Tuesday!

8th: Tomorrow is your SSR test. Bring your SSR to class or you will lose 10 pts from your grade. Your blended poem project is due on Tuesday. Your propaganda project is due next Wednesday, Jan 19. You will write the reflection in class on Tuesday. All posters must be completed by then.

7th: Read Ch. 5-6 in the Outsiders by tomorrow. Complete the Outsiders HW, analyzing similes and metaphors. Finish filling in your source cards.

6th: Finish typing your fictional narrative tonight. Save it to a flashdrive, and make sure you have your flashdrive when you attend school.

8th: Write a paragraph describing your proposal for the propaganda project. Choose a topic. Describe your slogan, symbol and message.

7th: Read CH. 5-6, fill in the notes page in your Outsiders packet for these chapters. Continue reading in your Wax Museum biography.

6th: Continue to prepare for your performance of the myth. Complete both sides of the handout, evaluating your own role in the group. Use complete sentences to answer the questions.

SSR Test: Jan 14 (next Friday) so catch up on your self-selected reading this weekend!

8th: Complete p. 104 in the advertising packet. Also, evaluate the ad on p. 110 of the packet. You may begin reading from the Diary of Anne Frank.
7th: Read Ch. 3 & 4 by Tuesday, Jan 11. Complete the project in which you and your partner became the casting directors for the newest film version of the Outsiders.
6th: Complete the character analysis sheet for your assigned character. Plan your props and costume selections, write down your ideas on the sheet. You may bring in "stuff" on Monday. Each team should be ready to perform the skit in class on Tuesday.
