8th grade: Please complete the reflection log for Acts II and III by Friday. All Act III skits must be ready by Thursday, all Act IV and Act V skits are due on Monday.
7th grade: # 4 & 5 on p. 33 in the Where the Red Fern Grows packet. All coonhound letters to parents were due in class today, so if you didn't turn one in, finish it tonite!
6th grade: identify 3 helpful camping websites and read about camping do's and don'ts. Write 4 interesting facts in the graphic organizer, too.

7th: Read Ch. 12-15 in Where the Red Fern Grows. Work on your "Mom, I want two coonhounds" paper.
6th: Retype your "nature's mystery" poem, and shadow an image behind your text. Use the printed directions if you are using a MAC, however, if you are using a PC, you will need to follow these steps: Copy the image from google, Paste it into Microsoft Word document, Right Click on the picture, Go to Text Wrapping, then CLICK "Behind Text"

8th: Your research paper draft will be collected on Tuesday (I will be at a meeting on Monday morning and have decided that this will be an easier way of handling things). Please attach your approved outline to your first draft. Remember the final copy of the paper is due on Thursday. You only have 2 days to work on it! On Thursday, we will begin Act Two. Skits assigned for Act II should be ready for Thursday.
7th: Please refer to your reading schedule for RED FERN. Bring your independent reading packets, too, on Monday.
6th: Ch. 3-7 in HOOT are due on Tuesday. Complete the vocabulary practice pages for HOOT Ch. 1-6!

8th: Read Act One and complete the reflection log questions for Act One. Your First Draft of the research paper is due on Monday. You must hand it in BEFORE going to the Algebra testing classes. If I don't receive your paper on Monday, you will lose 50% on your rough draft grade, and another 5 pts on your final research paper. Your final paper is due Thursday, May 26.

Read Act One by Tuesday, skits for Act One will begin on Wednesday and will include Thursday.
7th & 6th: Complete your literary day projects. Remember, you will display 2 pages in your sketchbook (one art page, and one attractively mounted copy of the poem) and a prop. You will also need to complete Steps 1-8 (see your Literary Day packet) in the oral analysis portion of your presentation. Your purpose is to "teach" "motivate" and "inspire" everyone with your poem choice. Don't forget to give an interesting explanation of WHY you chose this poem.

8th: Submit your graduation quote by next Monday. Read the prologue and answer the questions by Thursday (this handout will be distributed in class tomorrow). Read Act One by Monday, May 16.
7th: Literary Day is Monday May 16. Work on your presentation. Follow the guidelines and script in your literary day instruction packet.
6th: What is your chosen "endangered species"? I need your answer tomorrow.
NOTICE: All students who had their research papers "kicked back" should make necessary revisions to your paper and submit it again tomorrow. It is possible to raise your grade. Maximum grade on all "kicked back" papers is 90. Please follow the directions for the Works Cited page on the back page of your 6th grade research paper packet.

7th: Background to Where the Red Fern Grows: Travel Brochure, Travel article, and summary of the Great Depression/Inflation ---- all due tomorrow! Read Ch. 1-8 by Wednesday May 18. LITERARY DAY is May 16/17. You must submit your poem choice by tomorrow 5/10 - print 2 copies of the poem for class.
6th: Your literary day poem "selection" is due tomorrow (10 pts) if your poem was not approved yet, please print your top 3 choices. Complete the environmental worksheet (do not make the charts/graphs, just fill in the questionaires. Complete p. 1 of the vocabulary packet for HOOT.
