6th: Bring in a full page color magazine ad for a product. We will analyze the advertising techniques. Read Ch. 2 in Chew On This by Tuesday -- complete the vocabulary log and type your responses to the chapter questions.

7th: The final copy of your research paper is due tomorrow. Please attach the YES test (green checklist) and the yellow final rubric, with your first draft, peer edit sheets, outline, Works Cited page and Cover Sheet. Check the YES test checklist to ensure that you are completely prepared tomorrow to submit your paper.

6th: Read Ch. 2 by Tuesday February 28. Complete the vocabulary log and questions for Chapter 2, also.

8th Grade: Read Ch. 4-7 in TKAM by Friday. Complete the Jim Crow technology link assignment by tomorrow. Finish reading all Civil Rights Background articles and be prepared for quiz at the end of this week.
7th: see the HW posted over the weekend. Bring your flashdrive and first draft, outline, etc.... to class tomorrow - you will be given class time to continue your revisions. Final paper is due on Thursday with the green colored YES TEST and yellow rubric attached.
6th: See previous post -- in addition, you must define the key words for this chapter in your vocabulary log. Bring your vocabulary log to class.

Happy Presidents Weekend Everyone! Yesterday I attended a seminar in NYC on Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation - the second most important United States document of all time! It was very inspiring to learn more about Lincoln's efforts to save the nation and purge it of the plague of slavery.

All grades: Vocabulary Lesson 20 is due on Tuesday!
8th: Read Ch. 1-3 in TKAM. Fill in the character chart, making an attempt to fill in character traits for at least 4 characters introduced in the exposition of this novel.
7th: Your final copy is due on Thursday. You should be working on your revisions, which should be extensive, this weekend. Read Ch. 1 -2 in the Outsiders and complete p. 11 in the study packet (character match up/diagram)
6th: Read Ch. 1 "The Pioneers" in Chew On This by Wednesday. Answer the questions on p. 311 for this chapter in complete sentences. Use supporting details and examples in your responses (100 words minimum each)

I am looking for a small team of artistic seventh graders (3-4 students) to paint the gallery posters for our Wax Museum. If you are interested in volunteering, please submit your name via email, and make sure that you are available at least one morning each week at 7:30 am. Thank you!

7th: Continue composing the first draft of your research paper. It is due on Tuesday, February 14. Type your Self-Portrait poem (at least 12 lines) -- share an important part of your unique identity in your own style. Try using rhythm in your poem.
6th: Read the NY Times articles and answer the questions on the attached worksheets. You may answer on separate paper or on the bottom of the question sheet. Underline words you don't know.
