- Grade 6: Two days of ELA testing in Reading Comprehension and Text Analysis. May 11 & 12
- Grade 7/8: Two days of ELA testing in Reading Comprehension and Text Analysis. May 18 & 19
No vocabulary until AFTER PARCC testing!
8th Grade:
7th Grade:
- Please complete the Poetry packet "I Too Sing America by Langston Hughes, writing your own poem.
- Print out your literary analysis essay and attach it to your prewriting. PAST DUE!
7th Grade:
- Read the New York Times article by David Gonzalez, and Poem by Jimmy Baca, and complete the comparison activity on pp. 6 & 7 (cover page: "Immigrants in Our Own Land"). Write in complete sentences. There may be a pop quiz on this material, so review the questions, and your answers carefully, please.
- Read Section 4 "The Circuit'. Complete one reflection question below each chart for the assigned readings. Write your answer below the chart. Fill the white space. Also, provide an explanation of each vocabulary phrase as it appears in the text. Why are these words/phrases important to an overall understanding of what you are reading?
- Read Section 4 by Friday, May 8
6th grade:
- Complete pp. 7-8 in the poetry packet. These questions follow two poems about sports.
- Read the article on p. 557. Write a 3 sentence summary on the article and be prepared for a class discussion of the comparison between the poems and article! It's all about sports, but what's different?
