8th Grade:
- Read "I Almost Died Making Your Clothes" in your Scope magazine. This article is also available on Scope.Scholastic.com, using my classroom code GrimaldiBest1 to sign in. Please view the video through the online version.
- Complete all the pre-writing questions # 1-5 on the "Write to a Clothing Company" handout. You must also print out the research about the selected clothing brand and bring it to class. You do not have to write the letter, yet. :)
- Refer to your reading schedule for The Dressmaker of Khair Khana deadlines (KK). Ch. 2. is due Monday!
- All "Comprehension and Understanding" questions are due on the chapter due date. (Ch. 2 due Mon., Sept. 28) Write in complete sentences. No credit will be given for incomplete notes in your responses.
- Complete the Onion Model diagram in the KK study packet, reflecting on the direct and indirect influences in your life. Define the roots: macro, eco, mess, micro, chromo. You do not have to complete the 75 word paragraph! It is optional.
- Print a few images from a few special places you've visited or would like to visit. Choose the best one for a descriptive writing assignment. Make sure you can describe at least four senses when you try to imagine yourself in this place. Complete two pages of pre-writing for the Eye Bouquet assignment. Fill in the graphic organizer and brainstorm about using a simile or metaphor in your writing.
