8th Grade:

• Pause to Read Poetry Day:  Read "Those Winter Sundays" by Robert Hayden.  You can hear it aloud on Scope.Scholastic.com, too. Complete all of the guiding analysis questions, designed to move you closer to an understanding of the poem.  
• Writing Challenge: In what specific ways do your parent(s) encounter austerity, loneliness, thanklessness while they silently express their love and devotion to you?   

7th Grade: 

• Focus: Ch 4 Complete your team's assigned  Critical Thinking question, due tomorrow.  At least 100 words, please. 
• Refer to your reading schedule for The Dressmaker of Khair Khana deadlines (KK).  (Ch. 5 due Wed.)  "Comprehension and Understanding" questions are due on the chapter due date.  Write in complete sentences.  

6th Grade: 

• Complete the entire "Synonym" page in the handout (p. 3) to develop higher level "word choice" in your writing. Be conscious not to overuse the same words, and to find the "just right word". 
• Read Ch. 15-20 in Freak the Mighty by Wed., October 7.  You may read ahead.  Plan to read the entire book by Friday, October 9.
