It's Spirit Week in the Land of Cranbury! Please bring in money for the Helene Cody Foundation on Monday! Earn points for your grade by bringing in your change, dollar bills, and winter coats! Helene was an inspiration to all who knew her. She cared about people and was always involved in community service.

8th: Clip out 2 magazines advertisements. Identify advertising techniques in both ads. Staple to your definition chart.
7th: Read Ch. 7 & 8 in the Outsiders. First set of 30 notecards is due on Tuesday.
6th: Read the NY Times article and answer the questions on the back of the article. Look up the words you don't know and define them on the blank space on the question sheet. Read Ch. 2 in the chosen novel. February is Black History Month so let's raise awareness of the harmful effects of discrimination and prejudice in our lives.

6, 7, and 8th: Vocabulary Chapter 17 is due tomorrow. Also, all Writer's Journal will be collected. At the end of this quarter, you must have at least 10 pages of writing in your journal! I know one of you is going to write "the great American novel" someday, so keep on WRITING!! :) In other words, when you receive your Pulitzer Prize, please don't forget to thank me ( on television ).

Thank you for your maturity today during the film. Everyone was very respectful. It was a difficult subject to learn about, scary too, but you all handled it.
